Toraja – Bugis – Bira Tour (9 days/8 nights)

Upon arrival in Makassar airport, we will meeting service, and we take an eight-hour drive up to Tana Toraja passing through Bugis villages with a few stops on the way including visiting the Rammang Rammang area where mountainous KARST, and on the way, there can take the Motorize Canoe to go and back to Rammang – Rammang with beautiful panorama and Mangrove plant after that can visit the interior of the Bugis houses which built on stilt. Stop by Pare-pare for lunch beside enjoy the Panorama to Pare pare city, at a beautiful seafood restaurant located up on a hill with a sea view. Afternoon, refreshment stop at Bambapuang to see the erotic mountain of Buntu Kabobong and enjoy some local cakes with traditional coffee or tea. Late in the afternoon arriving in Toraja land, directly check-in at the hotel.

The morning after breakfast, explore Toraja: the Land Full of Surprises. First to Lemo, a cliffside burial site with effigies up on balconies. Then to Sangalla’ to see baby graves in a big tree. Visit Suaya, the royal burial site of Puang Sangalla, where you can see all kinds of graves existing in Tana Toraja from the past to the present. After lunch en route, visit the Kete Kesu’ traditional village with rows of traditional Tongkonan houses and granaries, and hanging graves. Back to the hotel in the afternoon. Dinner and stay overnight at the hotel.

After breakfast, we will spend the rest of the day visiting Tana Toraja, Indonesia's mountain wonderland. Visit the Toraja weaving center in Sadan village. Visit Pallawa, a stunning traditional village with tongkonan houses arranged in rows and traditional granaries. Visit Bori, a burial site filled with megaliths that are the legacies of the ancient Torajan stone cultures. Visit Nanggala, a traditional village, after lunch on the way there. It has a traditional tongkonan house with a human skull perched atop it, as well as thousands of bats perched on the bamboo trees. Afternoon, return to the hotel and spend the night.

Note: There will be a traditional death ceremony included in the two-day Toraja tour that can be attended on foot. During your two days in Toraja Land, you can also attend a typical local fruit and live-stock market.

Along the river, make your way past rural Torajan settlements. While your guide makes dinner, camp along the river. For a day of world-class white water rafting, enter the river once more just above Class IV rapids. Mountains rise 2,000 feet in the air. A gorge with more than 20 sets of rapids leads to the end.

A full day of Class III and IV whitewater activity, sweeping wave trains, quick technical rapids, difficult flush-throughs, and a few restful floats. Return to Rantepao for dinner and the night's lodging.

After breakfast, drive for four hours to Sengkang, a silk-producing city. To see the erotic mountain of Buntu Kabobong once more, stop by Bambapuang for a drink. Check-in at the hotel in the early afternoon. Enjoy a boat excursion to the floating villages on Lake Tempe after lunch. Observe the inhabitants going about their regular business on the lake. Enjoy a typical Bugis-Nobel-style dinner this evening while being served by boys and girls dressed in traditional dress.

Following breakfast, continue to Bira with a few photo stops along the way, with lunch as your primary destination. After driving past a few of the classic Bugis-Makassar settlements. You will be landing at the southern tip of the island of South Sulawesi, which is well-known for its residents' skill in crafting traditional wooden sailing vessels at Tana Beru. Arrive in the afternoon at Tanjung Bira and check in at the hotel. Free to enjoy oneself while taking in the stunning sunset from Bira beach. Dinner and a hotel stay the next day.

After breakfast, the head returns to Makassar while stopping at the Tana Beru boat-building facility to observe the boat builders as they construct huge traditional Pinisi boats the old-fashioned way. We return to Makassar city after lunch. In the evening, dine on seafood at a famous seafood restaurant in Makassar. Spend the night in a hotel.

After breakfast at the hotel, taking a quick tour of Makassar's city center includes stopping by the fortress, the sailing harbor, the sea-shell collection, the orchid garden, and a seafood restaurant for lunch. For your next location, depart on time from the airport.
